  2. I agree with Sue about getting enough sleep. It's important too get enough rest in order to store information that you learned the night before that way the next following day you have a brief understanding of what you learn.

  3. I also agree with Sue I believe that oatmeal is key to success to help you pass a test, it's healthy and helps you concentrate during the day. Sue also mentioned reviewing your notes right before you go to bed which I will start trying because studying the day of the test isn't much of an advantage. The way prepare for a test is that I think of it as a track meet, pace yourself, finish strong, and most importantly always have a positive mindset. This method helps me the most because once you become confident in yourself when taking the test even though it's not your strongest subject it still gives you a mental boost instead of doubting yourself.

    1. Eating a healthy meal before a test is essential to keep the energy that we should have. When you have a good food you have a happy stomach and thats something that won't be a bother throughout the exam, not kust for the first few minutes. Also keeping in mind that a lighr but filling meal will help prevent unwanted stomachaches. In addition, pacing yourself before an exam will give you a good advantage. Taking deep breaths and keeping a positive mindset. Just like it said in the article writing your anxieties on paper will help lift unnecessary burdens from you.

    2. Having enough sleep the night before a tough exam is crucial and key for excelling in the exam overall. The mind needs to rest fully in order for it to function properly the next morning. Studying the night before with full sleep will allow a student to meditate on everything they've learned and recall it during the test rather than having no rest and blanking out the second the test is in front of you. I also have a routine of praying before I take a test because as a Christian I believe God will take care of the exam for me and help me through it so that I will definitely pass. Lastly, a great healthy meal can help a lot to preserve the engergy we have in us. It will allow us to focus more on the exam and not on hunger because of an empty stomach. I agree with Madia on maintaining a positive mindset during an exam ... A positive mindset is very important and can help boost yourself up in confidence of great success in the end.

  4. I agree with sue that testing yourself repeatedly before an exam is better than re reading a text book because based on my personal experience , when I test myself with practice questions my brain remembers the information waaaay better. I also agree with @madia bestman when she said that studying the night before bed is a new strategy that she will use because it sounds more effective and convenient.

    1. I agree with Alyssa Laboy I had a personal experience at one point where I would study hard on pages from textbooks or articles and never understand the importance of re-reading it more the once to know exactly what I read. So testing yourself is something I personally would use now and for future notice.

    2. I also agree on Alyssa Laboy because testing your self would help to remembering the topic or question that be might be challenging. Coming from personal experience I used to have my sister test me on topic that I had to study for a major test. As a result it help alot because I didnt feel nervous for a big test. You should always try to manage your time because sometime you may know the right answer but run of time so it really important to manage your time wisely.

    3. I agree with you Basanty it is always key to have a study buddy like you found in your sister.

  5. I agree with sue because I believe that the more knowledgeable you are about something or a topic the more prepared you will be. And one thing that I do is that I make sure that I have breakfast, I'm alert and focused. Sue also states that looking over and reviewing your notes before the night is done is a good way to embed things into your brain. So based on what sue wrote and what I already achieve with my methods I will use a some new strategies.

    1. Yes, I agree with tiyahna. Getting breakfast before an exam helps your mind think and become as flexible as possible than a regular mind that doesn't consume breakfast. It helps keep you focused and energetic during exams helping you pass your exams.

  6. After reading Sues article, I highly agree with most of her strategies and techniques. One of the techniques that she talked about in the beginning of the article was the strategy of testing yourself before the exam. Testing yourself before exam has been more effective to apply knowledge to your memory before an exam according to Sue. Which has actually worked for me previously. In addition, getting great sleep also has an effect on your exams scores, says Sue. Getting good sleep is good enough for having a better memory and remembering more for the exam and also prevents you from falling asleep during the exam. These two techniques are the two I most likely use to pass my exams, however Sue stated more strategies to doing good on an exam that I would definetly take into consideration for the next exam I take.

    1. I totally agree with testing yourself. Once you find out exactly what your weakness is, you tend to put your focus towards that subject more. Just studying may not always lead you to what you exactly need to focus more on, so testing yourself may save you more time and also help getting a higher grade on the exam.

  7. Many methods that Sue Shellenbarger had mentioned for studying for a test are mostly what teenagers tend not to do and have a huge impact on why they do so poorly on exams. One of my tips for studying are making flashcards for major topics you need to know about. Subsequently, I also tend to buy my favorite food while studying which I honestly think can help since you might tend to get hungry and get off track which might lead you to stop studying. Sleeping is also a major proportion of you trying to past a test, which was one of the major subjects Sue had brought up. Having to not get any sleep (the all-nighter) can lead to you even falling asleep on the major exam you just pushed your body to stay up all night for, so I just suggest that you get some sleep for that exam. Try not to be on Snapchat, Insta or texting while studying because you end up just saying your going to check it but end up staying on the device. Lastly, when you're trying to remember a vocabulary word or a phrase, just try to make it rhyme with something or shorten it to something interesting that would make you remember it.

  8. I agree with the techniques for studying, I feel you should defiantly use methods that is best for you in that case, as far as flash cards, getting enough sleep and testing yourself on the knowledge to better prepare for an exam.

  9. I strongly agree with sues intake on studying for exams, I think you should defiantly test your self on the information in the best methods which is good for you, personally for me I like to review my work right before bed so it can be fresh in my head just like sue, aswell as studying my flash cards right before the exam so it can be freshly in my brain, I feel it is very important to study and use these methods because they do work very well, and prepares you for future exams, you have to continue to have a positive mindset and not stress yourself or think to hard into forgetting the information. Most teenagers use sues methods in everyday life for all the exams we take. Sleeping is major key, getting enough rest helps function the brain aswell as having a good meal, so your brain can be energized and start processing all your information.

  10. I agree with Sue about getting some sleep before a big test. Before preparing for a big test your body need to save that energy for the big day. As sue was saying that you should have flashcard which personally I think help alot .For instance as I was preparing for the sat I had so many vocabulary words and the defination and practice them everyday. You should have topic on the flashcard because it make it easier to breakdown the hard question and underdtanding it concept. I also agree that it important to not use your phone while studying because it a huge distraction and you tend to forget what you are supposed to be studying. Although you need good sleep but you also need a good meal to make sure you are not phsyically drained out during a test. Many teenager use Sue methods because these factor are the keys to do well on a test

  11. After reading this article i learned alot about what can help and what can harm me while preparing for an upcoming exam. One of the things i learned was that rereading a text book on different points of one topic will be very difficult to memorize as oppose to focusing on one greater idea of that topic. Also i learned that eating healthy in order to have greater lasting energy during a test, should begin atleast a week in advance. What you eat a week before can affect you. Also Sue recommends to eat slow digesting foods to help preserve that energy longer. It also states to have practice on testing your answering question skills. I personally think this is a very good idea since you wont only learn about what you are studying and what needs work but you are also preparing for the question that might pop up and putting your brain at work to find the answer. Another very important factor to ve ready for an exam would be sleep, which can only be helpful if you get alot. If you do not have enough sleep before an exam you will simply lower your chances of getting the score that you deserve or higher. This is because your brain isn't ready to think and function as it were to be if you were well rested. I know this from personal experience and common sense. Test preparations i consider is having good nutrition for energy that will last longer and lots of sleep so your brain doesnt over work itself and you dont feel tired during the test.

    1. 4 techniques used to prepare yourself for a test would be, sleeping better, eating better, not distracting yourself with digital devices while studying and also writing down how you're feeling prior to taking a test to put yourself in a more relaxed mood. I can totally agree to the idea of staying postive and relaxed while taking any test because as soon as you put yourself in a negative mind set you're probably gonna result with negative scores.

    2. I agree on having a positive mindset while taking a test because from personal experience, you can become confident when you have positive mindset and it will allow you to do your best.

    3. I completely agree with Neliza many times the test has many different topics, and it becomes extremely difficult to study them all at the same time. Thats why I agree and think it's great to start studying ahead of time atleast about a week. this also makes it easier to slowly go memorizing the important topics that might be on the test.

  12. After reading this article I noticed how many mistakes I was making before I take an exam. Some of it are studying all night, listen to music, and texting especially. I usually pray before I take a test because I get extremely nervous while taking it which I know is a problem. I'm not a good test taker but the article do have some good suggestion that can be used before you take an exam. A few was interesting such as testing your brain repeatedly to understand what you learn and studying before you go to bed. Personally, I think these two methods are helpful and useful for tests I will take in the future.

  13. 4 tips that might be helpful for studying would be to make a study guide of things you think might be on the exam so that you get used to what's on there and memorize them. Eating a good healthy breakfast can also improve your ability to have your brain up and running. Friends can also quiz each other on the topics that will be on the test and lastly , while studying being in the quiet so that you can focus more. I also agree with Natalie about not having devices around while studying because it can distract you and cause you not to study.

  14. The fact that this article has an excellent point about what you should do before taking an exam like eating breakfast and having enough sleep. Both are indeed very important since it helps make you feel at ease and not so tense. I thought listening to music would help, but it seems like it's a distraction because it doesn't help concentrate on what I'm studying and makes me lose track.

  16. After reading this article, I strongly agree on getting enough sleep the night before a test. This is something I need to work on myself because I'm not consistent. But I've tried it and I definitely makes a difference on how your body functions. And you really want to be energetic so that you're ready to focus and do well.

  17. I agree with all the tips Shellenbarger gives and another I know is to write/rewrite your notes in an interesting color like neon green because it helps you remember what your wrote. Another is to chew a specific gum flavor like strawberry while you're studying and then chew it during the test to help memory.

  18. I feel like eating before a test is the best way to be ready for one. It helps us concentrate. Personally i had hd times where i dont eat before and I cannot concentrate at all, belly starts making sounds, dizziness, headache and its just the worst. Being ready for a test with a good mean and studying is the way to go

  19. After reading this article, I do agree on getting a lot of sleep the night before a test is the best thing to do.This is a useful tip and is also something I would need to on work myself . Being energetic is something that's really important so that your focus on the task at hand.I love the techniques for studying, The methods like ( flash cards, getting enough sleep and preparing for an exam) is the best way to pass the test. These were three methods that I felt were really useful for tests I will use them in the future. On the other hand I thought the point she made about not being on your phone while studying is another good tactic to achieve a good score.I really agree with jalinne about having a positive attitude because if your not relaxed and your stressed out about failing or anything else you mostly will not succeed at the task at hand. The score will be low if your mind is somewhere in a negative state.

  20. For me personally Studying can be hard at times. Many times depending on the subject. A very helpful tip that I know and many times practice is keeping your phone away from you while you study it's a great way to stay focused and minimize any distraction. Another tip that many know about is starting the day with a good meal, this really helps you maintain your energy. You may also be in a quiet place by yourself to be able to concentrate. This works for some people but not everyone if you aren't one of those people than you can get a study buddy just make sure it's someone who can take this serious and actually help you.
